Emma Corbett

"Keep going, no matter what anyone says to you, just keep going. At the end of the day you are the one that knows your horse best you can take bits of help that people give you and you can discard other bits, just keep working hard, it really is a workers game. "

About Emma

I began riding when I was 4 years old. Although not from a typical 'horsey' family I quickly caught the bug and began going for riding lessons every week. It wasn't long before I was begging my parents for my own pony which eventually arrived when I was 11 years old in the form of 'Murphy', a 13.2 pony driving pony bought for just £500. Although unable to canter when he first arrived, this pony turned out to be a superstar and took me to my first International. I then spent a few years in the Eventing world where I was a member of the GB Pony Squad. However, after being given the opportunity to ride a 16hh Dutch Warmblood schoolmaster (Reg) alongside my event pony I decided Dressage was most definitely the discipline for me! This led me to finding my first horse, Furst Diamantino (Feo). A 5 year old 16hh, Chesnut gelding by Furst Heinreich. I was 15 when Feo arrived and since then we have moved all the way up through the levels together from prelim up to Grand Prix. We have now competed at 13 Internationals for GB at Junior, Young Rider and U25 Grand Prix level, 2 Summer National Championships, Reserve Champions in the Advanced Medium Restricted Championships 2011, we have two Regional titles at Advanced Medium and Prix St Georges. I also have a 4 year old KWPN gelding called Galliano (Arnie). Since I backed him last summer he is now competing in the 4 year old classes at the Premier League shows. When I was younger and based at home in Yorkshire I trained with Becky and Hannah Moody and Sonia Baines. Since starting my degree due to my scholarship at Hartpury College, I have relocated to Gloucestershire and now train with Gareth Hughes and Carl Hester.
